A bit of a contrarian view on writing and especially children's and YA writing. I'm kind of obsessed on the YA writing thing, though, as if you couldn't tell.

*scribbles in dust* Wash me!!
Sophie to Grandma (hand on car): Just look for our white car.
(The car's actually silver.)
Grandma: *What* color is it?
(Sophie looks at the bug mess all over the front of the car.)
Sophie: I don't know. Maybe we should wash it.

Not long ago we spotted a "white" car covered in dirt. Instead of the usual "wash me" scribbled on the back, someone had written, "Also available in white."
